Hi there! The Fairydust Book Blog aims to be an inclusive, friendly space for book reviews, film reviews, recipes, ‘Literary Character of the Month’ posts and opinion pieces. As the name suggests, it has a magical, paranormal theme, and a lot of the books I review focus around this, and around mainly teen/YA/fantasy fiction. I also like to review upcoming book releases. So just who is the Fairy Dust Book Blogger?
Nice to meet you! My name is Eleanor, and when not blogging I am the author of The Breathing Ghosts and The Blood Witching– two dark vampire fantasy novels aimed at young adults, and the accompanying short story collection, The Ghosts’ Feast. All are available to buy as ebooks from Amazon and Amazon.co.uk. I am currently in the process of writing a new YA (Young Adult) Urban Fantasy novel based around Christina Rossetti’s well-known poem, ‘Goblin Market,’ which is very exciting. I love book blogging, and also have an official blog for The Breathing Ghosts Series, which you can check out here. (It also has a whole score of other reviews, articles, and much, much more!)
I love myths, legends and fairytales, and this has often influenced my work (including this blog.) My favourite go-to authors are J.R.R Tolkien (of course,) Joanne Harris and Cassandra Clare.
I would very much like to think that my written ork is a mix of humour, magic, myth, drama, romance, fantasy and forbidden love. (Because who doesn’t love forbidden love, right?) My work also deals with themes of sexuality, identity, bullying and gender, and this is reflected in my review choices for this blog, which often revolves around YA novels.
I have previously written for literary review websites such as For Books’ Sake, and given public readings from The Breathing Ghosts Series across London. (For videos of my readings, please see my YouTube page.) Please see my Portfolio for more details of previous and upcoming events, writing and publicity.

A quick note about the images I use on this site: wherever possible, I try to use images that are Creative-Commons licensed for commercial reproduction, use and modification, and will state this in each post. If it has originally come from a large image-sharing site (e.g. Tumblr,) I always credit the page where I found the image. (For instance, my purple ‘fairy dust’ background header image comes from here.) However, sometimes it is not always easy to credit an image, so if I do accidentally credit the wrong person/owner/creator/site, please contact me to let me know, and I will rectify this. Thanks! 🙂
